Our collections process

Sample collections take place through one of our trained nationwide collectors, or at one of our walk-in centres. Our collectors will come to a location convenient for the client, such as solicitor's office, workplace or home. Our collectors will ensure the space is safe, discreet and sterilised.

Our drug testing services are suitable for members of the public, private family law solicitors and clients, as well as public family law teams and local authorities. Reports are prepared by forensic experts to court-compliant standards and are based on UKAS-accredited laboratory analysis. We offer one-off tests as well as repeat testing.

Alcohol Testing

Our alcohol testing services are suitable for family law cases, court-ordered instructions, safeguarding and employment-related matters, as well as members of the public seeking reliable and objective evidence. Reports are prepared to court-compliant formats and are performed in a UKAS-accredited laboratory and interpreted by experts.

DNA Testing

Our DNA testing services are suitable for family law matters, court-ordered parentage cases and private individuals seeking peace of mind. Reports are prepared to court-compliant formats and are legally admissible. They are based on accredited laboratory analysis, with expert interpretation providing evidence that is fit for court and to industry standards.

Blood Testing (PEth) for Alcohol

Blood testing can be used to identify recent alcohol consumption, making it a valuable option where evidence is required within a defined and relatively short timeframe.

Nail Testing for Drugs & Alcohol

Nail testing can be used to detect drug and alcohol use over a longer timeframe and is often chosen when hair strand testing is not possible or appropriate. Nail testing and body hair can also be used alongside scalp hair to extend the period covered by the samples to conform to the period of time instructed.

Hair Strand Testing for Drugs & Alcohol

Hair strand testing provides a historical view of drug or alcohol use, making it particularly useful where patterns of drug use or alcohol consumption need to be assessed over time.

Urine Testing for Drugs & Alcohol

Certis BioLabs offers urine testing for drugs and alcohol to support court-directed, family law and safeguarding cases, as well as situations where recent consumption needs to be assessed.

For legal professionals practising across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Milton Keynes, alcohol misuse is a key concern in family law and child protection. According to the Department for Education, 73,250 social care cases in the year ending 31 March 2025 involved concerns about a parent’s alcohol misuse.
